Rosalie Haizlett is an illustrator and author whose work celebrates the hidden wonders of the natural world. She’s been an artist-in-residence at Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with the National Audubon Society, and at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History.
Rosalie has just published her second book, Tiny Worlds of the Appalachian Mountains: An Artist’s Journey. And oh, what a treasure!!! This is now one of my favorite books of all time!
It’s just so many things—a travelogue, a memoir, a nature journal, a beautiful reference book, an inspirational guide for getting your own nature journaling practice started, and so much more. I’m just so in love.
Check out her beautiful illustration of Appalachian Wildflowers in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park!
I know you will fall in love too as you listen in and learn all about:
What inspired Rosalie to take this epic 1500 mile journey along the Appalachian Range
What got Rosalie interested in tiny worlds in the first place
How Rosalie found solace and healing in nature through illness
How this journey changed her perceptions of home
How a little Screech Owl became her muse
I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did!
